Memory Isolation (2015) is a semi-interactive digital installation that explores the universal experience of separating past memories from the present. Familiar childhood objects—such as a piggy bank, a Lego brick, and a wooden house—are presented to draw viewers in, yet their digital form and the screen that stands between them and the audience heightens the sense of distance. This tension underscores the isolation and separation between those recollections (objects) and our current reality (the viewer).
A dark, weightless background symbolizes the missing context that once held these memories together, while gleaming, distorted metal objects hint at the way our minds reshape and symbolize recollections over time. By juxtaposing the comforting familiarity of childhood icons with an unsettling digital realm, Memory Isolation examines how our past remains close yet perpetually out of reach.
