iTalkBB TV is a Video-On-Demand streaming platform specializing in high-quality Chinese-language content, ranging from TV shows and movies to user-generated and original productions. With approximately 200K weekly active users across its website, mobile apps, and set-top TV boxes, the platform delivers a seamless viewing experience to a global audience.
In my role as Creative Marketing Associate, a key focus involved designing TV show and movie banners/thumbnails for iTalkBB TV’s front page. This initiative helped users quickly discover relevant content and significantly boosted engagement. Due to a steady influx of new shows and movies, over 150 creative slots required regular updates—weekly or even daily—necessitating a well-structured approach that balanced creativity with efficiency.
Through rapid A/B testing and data analysis, three critical design factors emerged:
1. Show title placement: Consistent title positioning gave viewers a reliable cue for identifying content.
2. Actor imagery: Prominent appearances of actors and actresses attracted higher click-through rates than scenic shots.
3. Contrast: High-contrast visuals outperformed more muted designs, appealing to user preferences.
By integrating these insights, the performance of banners and thumbnails improved significantly, leading to better viewer engagement and retention. A streamlined production process—from asset collection to final design delivery—was also established, ensuring timely updates in a dynamic content environment. This cohesive strategy enhanced the platform’s overall user experience and underscored iTalkBB TV’s commitment to delivering engaging, high-impact entertainment.
